About AreopagusAreopagus is a campus ministry based on these propositions:
Areopagus is named for the hill in Athens were St. Paul reasoned with the Greek philosophers in Acts 17. We chose this name because we seek to proclaim the gospel within the context of higher education and in conversation with the people who work there. The Areopagus ministry director
is Randy Gabrielse (Ph.D., Michigan State, 2002). He can be reached at RandyG@isu-areopagus.org
or We sponsor a number of regular events, including a monthy faculty presentation (God at Work at ISU) and two weekly faculty/grad student book clubs. We also sponsor the Areopagus Lecture Series and the Areopagus Graduate Student Fellowship. Areopagus was founded in 2004 to pursue two objectives:
Areopagus is a ministry of the Christian Reformed Church. It is supported by CRC Home Missions and the CRC churches of Iowa through their four classes (Northcentral Iowa, Heartland, Pella and Iakota). A ministry association, which consists of representatives of these supporters, has oversight of the ministry. A local ministry board is responsible for its ongoing administration. Locally, Areopagus is supported by Trinity Christian Reformed Church. Correspondence with the local ministry board can be addressed to its secretary, Dave Schweingruber (dschwein@iastate.edu). Our mailing address is: Areopagus |
