Areopagus Ministry Director
Randy Gabrielse was hired in 2004
to be the initial ministry director of Areopagus.
Randy,
a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, earned a Ph.D. in history in 2002 from
Michigan State University. His dissertation was on "Making Men, Colleges
and the Midwest: The Building and Writing of Indiana Colleges, 1802-1860."
Randy received his B.A. from Calvin
College in 1989 and his M.A. from Michigan State in 1993. He has taught history
courses at Michigan State University and Grand Valley State University. While
at Michigan State, Randy was president of Graduate InterVarsity Fellowship.
Prior to becoming the Areopagus
ministry director, Randy worked as a direct care provider at Pine Rest Christian
Homes, a residential facility for adults with developmental disabilities.
Randy and his wife, Karen, live
in rural Ames and attend Trinity Christian Reformed Church.
In their spare time Randy and Karen
enjoy reading, bicycling, gardening and cooking.
